What We Do

We work in 4 key areas that are detailed below

Children’s Eye Tests

ABALON Trust partners with a number of education and library charities to provide eye-tests school age children living in medically underserved communities. Undiagnosed and untreated vision problems in school age children can be a barrier to reading and learning that has a life-long impact on a child’s potential.

Adult Eye Health

Many of main causes of sight loss in adults is avoidable if they are detected early. Every year, ABALON Trust runs eye camps in medically underserved communities so that adults and their families have the opportunity to access eye clinics for eye checks and treatment by trained Optometrists and Ophthalmologists.

Older People’s Vision

Sight loss in older age can be prevented and treated in many cases, but for older people in living in places where they cannot access eye care, sight loss can be devastating. It can take away the independence of older people who then need to rely on their families for their basic day-to-day needs; a situation that is preventable.

UK & US Projects

ABALON Trust works closely with the Black British community in the United Kingdom to reduce health inequalities. It also works with US partner organisations to address the wider issue of health inequalities in diaspora communities.  Our goal is to reduce the impact of preventable and treatable diseases that can lead to sight loss in these communities.
